Emmanuel Baptist University Pastoral Studies: PS.315 PERSONAL EVANGELISM. The art of soul-winning presented from a Scriptural point of view with emphasis on Scripture memorization and the efficient use of the Word of God in witnessing and in leading a person to Christ. (3 hours) PS.316 SUNDAY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION AND CHILDREN'S WORK. The organization, curriculum and development of the S.S.in a Baptist Church are surveyed. Emphasis is given to methods, materials, and procedures used in teaching, and the Evangelizing of children. (3 hours) PS.3 17 MISSIONS. A study of the Church's whole mission program from its Biblical basis, to a Missionary's preparation and to the Church's program for the Missionary. (3 hours) PS.318/ 319 HOMILETICS. A good course in sermon construction. Both the structure and content of the sermon in building expositional Bible messages. The second session is occupied with practice preaching. (3 hours) PS.320 BAPTIST POLITY. Principles of organization and administration of the local Church. Duties of the Pastor, Church, Officers, and Organization. The Baptist Distinctives are defined, studied, and related to Christian doctrine. ( 3 hours) PS.321 EVANGELISM. A comprehensive treatment of every facet of Evangelism; Pulpit, house-to-house visitation, street and tent meetings.Emphasis is given to calling, preaching, giving the invitation, and follow up. Designed for the Pastor and the Evangelist. (3 hours) PS.322 CHURCH PLANTING. The principles of establishing a new Baptist Church. Preliminary ground work. (3 hours) PS.323 PASTORAL COUNSELING. A study of Christian counseling and guidance which seeks to develop insights into techniques for isolating and solving human personal and interpersonal problems, by means of God's Word. (3 hours) PS.324 MODERN CULTS. The origin, history and teachings of the principal religions found in America today, with a Biblical refutation of the unscriptural elements. (3 hours) PS.325 SPECIAL SERVICES. A practical study emphasizing special services required of a Pastor to minister in a local church including weddings, funerals, baptisms, the Lord's Supper, church dedications, and ordinations. (3 hours) PS.326 CHRISTIAN EDUCATION PROGRAM OF THE CHURCH. Pedagogy is studied and developed through student presentations in class. Students participate in evaluation of one another with a view towards being better equipped to teach and train others for local church educational ministries. ( 4 hours) PS.327 CHURCH MUSIC. Lectures and class discussions in which plans are formulated for enrichment and development of music ministry in the church. (3 hours) PS.328 RADIO MINISTRY. Coordinate and produce an effective radio ministry. Prepare programs for radio broadcasting, viSit radio statiOns, conduct 15 min. live radio broadcast. (3 hours) PS.329 REVIVALS. Independent research of past revivals in Europe and America, to motivate the student to an awareness of the need for revival. (3 hours) PS.330 PASTORAL PROBLEMS. Pastoral problems in various areas of pastoral ministry are approached. Attention is given to counseling, administration, church ordinances, and other areas of practical knowledge. (3 hours) PS.331 BIBLICAL EVIDENCE. This course has been placed in pastoral studies because it allows the pastor to be able to present evidence of the authority of the Bible. The absolute reliability of the King James Version is defended and substantiated. (3 hours) PS.332 THE PASTOR AND HIS MISSION. Approaches the pastor's work, his preaching, his personal life, and his relation to society. (4 hours) PS.333 HOMILETICS. A study of sermon preparation relating to plan arrangement, introduction, body and conclusion, as well as forms of sermons: Textual, topical and expository. (4 hours) PS.334 HERMENEUTICS. A study of principles of Biblical interpretation. This course deals with problems of interpreting the Scriptures. (4 hours) PS .420 INDEPENDENT STUDY. An independent study of Christian education, chosen by the student and approved by an assigned seminary professor with emphasis on individual churches of which the student is pastor or a member. (8 hours) PS.421 PASTORAL LEADERSHIP. To provide the student with skills in leadership, motivation and management. (4 hours) PS .422 MINISTERING THE MEMBERSHIP. To provide the student with methods of ministering to church families in sickness and grief. (4 hours) PS .423 INDEPENDENT RESEARCH. Many ministers have certain areas of study they would like to research and receive credit. Under this course he may explore various avenues in the pastoral ministry. Permission from the Academic Dean must be acquired before beginning this course. (4 - 8 hours) PS .424 PREACHING SEMINAR. The aim of this course is to expose the methods of preaching, how to righfly divide the Word of Truth, and the delivery of a sermon. (4 hours) |
